Legal Services
If you are looking for an attorney, keep one thing in mind: before you speak with anyone about your case, retain an attorney! Until the attorney-client relationship is established, your communications are not privileged or confidential.
The hiring of a lawyer is an important decision that should not be based solely on advertisements. Before you decide, do your homework. I pride myself on prompt, personalized service, and zealous representation! However, before I can accept a case I must perform a conflict of interest check for our mutual benefit, and we must reach a fee agreement. Only after we have a written agreement, can we freely exchange information as attorney and client. Remember - exchanging emails and informal discussions with me or any attorney does not create an attorney client relationship.
Effective March 1, 2010, my billing rate is $250.00 per hour, plus expenses. Hourly billing is calculated to the closest one-tenth (1/10th) hour for all time spent on a matter, including conferences with clients, legal research, telephone calls, email correspondence, drafting documents, court appearances, meetings with any attorney, party, investigator, witness or person in regards to the case, and travel time. Interim bills are sent out monthly, and must be paid within thirty (30) days.
Certain types of cases may be taken on a contingency fee basis. In such a case, a written contingency fee agreement will be prepared that will detail the fee arrangement. In any event, ethical rules require that the client will be responsible for costs or expenses of the case regardless of the outcome.
